The Summer Solstice

This marks the start of summer and typically lands on June 20th or June 21st each year. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year and is the time during which the sun is at the highest point in its cycle for the northern hemisphere. On this day, the Earth's axis is tilted in such a way that the northern hemisphere receives the most daylight. If the winter solstice represents the beginning of the Sun's yearly cycle (similar to a New Moon), then perhaps the summer solstice contains qualities similar to that of a full moon. The energy of the Summer Solstice is a time that is energetically ripe for abundance, celebration, and enjoying the fullness of life.

The solstices and equinoxes are major pivot points in the yearly rhythms and cycles of nature. This is why the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) have serious action-taking energy. They love to start new things and they are prone to sudden starts, stops, and reversals in their actions. This is apparent in the way that they live, work, and love!
